Synchroninterviews: Nik of Artizani Sourdough Bakery in Tirana, Albania

Video interview on the virtues and benefits of indigenous sourdough

On my recent two-year journey throughout Turkey and Europe, my last stop was Albania. On one occasion I came across a conversation on one of the Expats in Albania Facebook groups about a sourdough bakery in Tirana, the Capital. Sourdough in Albania? I’d been making my own and carrying my starter (along with my kefir grains) with me through all of the countries, but I had not seen sourdough anywhere. It was unheard of. I made the trip there to check it out, and inevitably the owner, Nik, was so friendly and the products so tasty that I asked him if he was willing to be interviewed for my Youtube channel.

We talked about the health benefits of sourdough, and Nik’s mission and vision of seed to oven bread.

This conversation is a must for anyone who is interested in sourdough or fermented foods! And, if you happen to be in Albania, be sure to visit the Artizani Bakery at Rr. Muharrem Butka, nr 18, Tirana, Albania 1001.

As it turned out, life got in the way for a while, and I lost part of the interview when a file disappeared, so the conversation is cut off at the end. My apologies.
