Let's Go Back to the Earth, or What Elon Musk will Sing on Mars Music Video

A Rainbow Offering, finally in waveform video a year and a half after recording

This song came to me at some point in early 2022. The original vision was "merely" that of a Rainbow Chant: a vision of a return back to indigenous ways of reverence and Right Relation with our planet and each other. But soon after, the movie playing the song in my mind presented another scene from the future, one much more ominous, and one that explains why I was suffering from chronic exhaustion when I recorded the song by a random invitation in May 2022.

Mars Mission Mistake

At some point, Elon Musks “SpaceX” mission to colonize Mars actually really happens, and although it begins with excitement and a sense of exploratory adventure, not soon after, the colonizers find themselves at a life-and-spirit-threatening dead end: despite all of the efforts they have made to provide all of their material needs, they have overlooked the most important factor of huper wellbeing: that their bodies belong to and are literally brought to life by the spirit and magnetic field of Earth. Despite this, they have chosen to voluntarily exile themselves from their source to live on a dead planet of war, and their spiritual bodies are dying.

The death-by-separation settles in while the sense of adventure has dissolved now that they’re living in their airtight space houses, and they are being absorbed into the baneful firey energy field of Mars, wholly unsustainable for creatures of water.

The colonizers are now at war with themselves. A deep rage unknown to any Earthdweller has already begun to rise up in each of them, and each one is looking at the other to blame for bringing them there. A significant portion have killed each other, and the Red Planet is even redder than before. The remaining folks are scared shitless, clinging to the dead ground for life as though waterless in a desert…and quite literally that too. They definitely don’t have the energy to even get up and go to the spaceships that are ready to go, because with each one who dies, the collective energy of the tribe is cut even lower. They know that they’re going to die there, and no one is willing to admit that they have made a horrible, unforgivable mistake.

And then one person, perhaps channeling energy being sent by a benevolent Star, starts singing this song.

Care Magic

Woven into the song are the five points of the Care Pentacle (the video includes a cute song that makes it easy to remember) invented by Galen Smith of the Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft:

  • Interdependence

  • Boundaries

  • Vulnerability

  • Integrity

  • Creativity

Since I first learned about the Care Pentacle from Johanna O’Tigham, it has been a significant influence on my life and relationships. I really believe that these 5 concepts are a solid foundation for health and balance in caring for oneself and others, and are the core to building sustainable community.

Looking at this vision of the “mars mission” it’s clear that the point that was missing was vulnerability. It makes sense, because Mars does not like to be vulnerable.

Lyrics

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
We need a tribe to stay alive
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
We need support to keep a fort
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
Food growing in forests
Stock pot filled with porridge
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
Sun on our skin Prana within
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
Meals in a circle
Flowers of purple
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
Interdependence and life
Shared without strife
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
Boundaries protect
Bodies from offense
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
We are vulnerable
Open-hearted, one for all
Let's go back to the Earth

Let's go back to the Earth
Let's go back to the Earth
We choose integrity
Integrated, whole, and free
Let's go back to the Earth

We're going back to the Earth
We're going back to the Earth
Creating as we go
Always in the flow
We’re going back to the Earth
